Given the increasingly multicultural population, equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) are becoming integral parts of medical education. In this module, we consolidate commonly-asked questions about EDI programming.

Diversity training for medical students and health care professionals has been increasingly covered in the literature over the last two decades. However, its inclusion in the curriculum remains inconsistent. In different contexts the drivers for its inclusion varies but are often political or social. Faculty development in this area is a more recent entry into the literature. Whilst some staff are comfortable and feel skilled to teach this, many do not feel they are sufficiently trained or qualified to teach in this area. The notion of inclusivity in education is not new but less addressed in medical education than elsewhere. It is likely that there are examples of good practice but these are not readily identifiable or available.
